UK Sun Seekers Winter Sun Hot Spot Revealed
It might seem rather early to be thinking about winter sun, but when it comes to us Brits jetting off during the colder months there is one sure-fire favourite destination… and unsurprisingly, it's the Canary Islands, a TUi survey reveals.
The great news for travellers using Gatwick Airport is the number of tour operators and airlines offering Gatwick flights to all the islands.
Travellers can choose from low-cost budget airlines including easyJet and Monarch, scheduled airlines such as British Airways and tour operators Thompson and First Choice.
This great choice means travellers can get the very best deal on a long weekend, week or fortnight stay. And the great thing about the Canary Islands is that they are just a 4-hour flight from Gatwick.
There’s a massive choice of hotels, self-catering and B&B accommodation too, and the islands are geared up for couples and families alike. There’s culture, nature, fabulous water sports and even some fabulously cosmopolitan cities offering some excellent shopping. With winter sun temperatures of around 21ºC the islands are ideal from October to March.
And, just for fun, here are some facts you may not know:
- The Canary Islands boast 3,000 hours of sunshine a year
- There’s 4,800 hours of daylight a year too, making it one of Europe’s sunniest places, mostly because the islands are located by the Western Sahara and Southern Morocco.
So if you’re looking at flying out of Gatwick for some winter sun, look no further than the reliable and readily available, Canary Islands.
