Tips to Find Safe and Secure Gatwick Meet and Greet Parking

Whilst there are many reliable and trustworthy parking companies operating at Gatwick, there are also plenty of unscrupulous, rogue traders.

The recent incident when West Sussex Police discovered more than 1,000 cars abandoned in a muddy field, with keys attached to wind screens and in boots of vehicles highlights the importance of using reliable and vetted Gatwick meet and Greet airport parking operators.

Sadly, it’s not the first time rogue traders have been reported and prosecuted in the Gatwick area.

Which is why all passengers wishing to use the hugely popular, convenient type of airport parking need to be vigilant.

So how can you be sure you are using a bonafide meet and greet Gatwick parking company?

Well, follow these tips and you can’t go wrong...

  1. Look for a Gatwick Approved Operator
These companies have passed stringent checks and clearance by the airport to provide safe and secure airport parking.  Only then are they awarded the Gatwick Approved Operator status.

What’s more, they are the only companies that are allowed to operate on the airport’s terminal forecourts.

Gatwick Approved Operator drivers will be experienced, mature and fully insured, ensuring peace of mind when you leave your vehicle in their safe hands.

There's a list of Approved Operators on Gatwick's website.
  2. Look for the  Park Mark award
A coveted award by the Association of Chief Police Officers, the ParkMark is awarded to car parks that have the tightest and most secure parking measures in place. For example, security monitoring, perimeter fencing, CCTV  24/7, 365 days a year patrols.  Vehicle keys must be stored in a safe that is linked directly to the local Police Station.

This parking award will be displayed ‘loud and proud’ on a company’s website and marketing material – it’s a white box with a blue tick logo – if you can’t see if, the chances are they won’t have it!

All Gatwick Approved Operators must have the ParkMark.

To search for Gatwick car parks with Park Mark, visit and enter Gatwick Airport in the search bar and filter by 'near meet and greet'. To find Help Me Park, enter RH6 0PA in the search bar.
  3. Landline contact numbers
Only use parking firms that have landline contact details. Be wary of firms using only mobile numbers.
  4. Address displayed on website
Check that the company displays its address on its website – this is a legal requirement.
  5. Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Certification
Check that the parking operator has been awarded the Trading Standards’ ‘Buy with Confidence’ award – look out for the black and white circle logo with red triangle graphic. Again, this will be displayed proudly on any websites so it won’t be hard to spot from those companies awarded in this scheme.
