September flight news

Gatwick is continuing to gain new destinations to help bolster its attempts to secure the right to build a second runway. Here's a list of the latest services and flight announcements made in September.

British Airways
BA is expanding its destinations from Gatwick with the announcement of three new services to Funchal in Madeira, Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and Seville in Spain.

All three destinations will commence in March 2015.

The three destinations are in addition to eight new Gatwick routes previously announced for summer 2013, including Cagliari in Sardinia, Heraklion in Crete, Rhodes in Greece and Bodrum and Dalaman in Turkey.

Three new winter destinations offered by BA from December are Fuerteventura, Friedrichshafen and Grenoble.

Next summer, BA is set to offer more than 50 destinations from Gatwick.

Garuda Indonesia
Garuda Indonesia began flights between Gatwick and Jakarta this month. Indonesia’s national carrier now operates Gatwick to Jakarta services (via Amsterdam) five times per week - Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Norwegian Air
Following the successful launch of its low-cost transatlantic flights, Norwegian is set to double its Gatwick flights to New York and Los Angeles.

Gatwick to New York’s JFK will operate six times per week (daily except Sundays) from 2 May 2015.

From 4 May 2015, Gatwick to LA flights will operate four times per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays).

Norwegian Air is set to launch a new weekly Gatwick service to Orlando, commencing on 4 April 2015.

Gatwick airlines currently serve 46 of the top 50 EU business destinations and offers more than 40 long haul destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Moscow and the UK’s only direct services to Vietnam.
