easyJet expansion at Gatwick

There’s great news for passengers wanting a cheap no-frills flight out of Gatwick Airport next Spring as easyJet is set to expand its services from Gatwick.

Currently, the airline offers more than 100 destinations from Gatwick, including flights to Moscow - easyJet won the rights to fly to Moscow, a coveted route that many airlines bid for.

The airline is set to offer more flights and destinations from Gatwick as a result of purchasing all Flybe’s take-off and landing slots - easyJet will take over the slots when Flybe withdraws from the airport in March 2014.

Increased profits, from areas such as allocated seating, have led to positive investment by easyJet, such as the Flybe Gatwick slots for example, and it’s hugely successful new marketing campaign, ‘Europe by easyJet’.

In the rolling year of 2012/13, the airline carried 60.8 million passengers - an increase of 4%. Gatwick Airport is the airline’s largest UK base, with Spain remaining easyJet’s most popular destinations from Gatwick Airport.
