Winter Skiing

With many Help Me Park customers looking forward to ski holidays this winter, we thought we would take a look at some options for skiing in Europe.

A favourite with many skiers, France offers a huge choice of skiing resorts, plus it's so easy to get to. Many airlines, including budget airlines, offer flights to ski resorts from most UK airports. However, if you prefer not to fly, consider the 'Snow Train' that runs from St Pancras, London to Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne and Bourg-St-Maurice.

Popular French ski resorts include Chamonix, Courchevel, Les Arcs, Val d'Isere, Meribel and Les Deux Alpes.

Other European favourites include Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Bulgaria. Finland is also popular with skiers - take a look at Finish resorts such as Levi and Yllas.

In the past two years, the ski industry has seen holidaymakers cutting back on second-holiday ski weeks, and last year there were some great deals to be found.

Christmas skiing holidays are very popular with UK skiers, however, spending the festive season in the snow can be expensive, although there are still some good deals – booking early of course will get you the best discounts, with some operators offering up to 20% off.

While France is the most popular ski destination at Christmas, the place for that idyllic Christmas-card scenery is Austria with snow on 'gingerbread looking' chalets. However, do be careful that your Austrian resort is high enough for good snow. Many resorts are low - Westendorf or Kitzbuhel for example - so be careful. Higher resorts, good for snow, can be found in the Ziller Valley and glacier areas such as Finkenberg, Kaprun, Lech, Solden, and St Anton.

If you are lucky enough to spend some time on the slopes this Christmas check whether your resort is offering some festive treats, such as, Santa arriving by sleigh, fireworks, even Christmas markets.

If you are flying with your own ski equipment, don't forget the most convenient way to transport your skis and snowboards to Gatwick Arport is to use Gatwick meet and greet parking.
