5 Sunshine destinations for October half term |
In just a few weeks the schools will break up for their October half-term holidays, so we at Help-Me-Park have put together a list of five popular October sunshine destinations. |
| The school half-term holiday is only a week long, so Europe is a great choice for a short break - in just a couple of hours you can be soaking up the rays on a warm beach.
Here are our top five choices for an autumn break:
- Portugal
Portugal is a firm favourite with British holidaymakers due to its warm temperatures and short flight time of 2 hours. October temperatures are usually around 22°C with 8 hours a day of sunshine. The country offers something for everyone including beautiful beaches and many outstanding golf courses.
- Cyprus
Cyprus offers the most sunshine in October - around 9 hours a day, with temperatures a delightful 28°C. The country is great for water sports with golden sandy beaches. It does tend to be a little more expensive than other European destinations, but it does offer good autumn temperatures. Flight times: around 4½ hours.
- Tunisia
With a flight time of just three hours, Tunisia will offer temperatures of 25°C in October, making it a serious contender for your October half term get away. The country is great for children, offers sandy beaches, lovely food and is competitively priced for 7 hours of sunshine a day.
- Canary Islands
Slightly further afield are the Canary Islands. A 4-hour flight will bring pleasant temperatures of around 21°C - 24°C throughout autumn and winter. In October, expect around 7 hours of sunshine.
The four main islands: Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura offer a great mix of (black) sandy beaches, rolling sand dunes, cosmopolitan city centres and adventurous water sports. Choose from self-catering or all-inclusive deals on the islands, with a huge choice for families.
- Egypt
Slightly further away still, but a favourite with Brits is Egypt. It's a 5-hour flight away, but does offer a touch of luxury. Hotels are known for being very high quality, and the weather is amazing - 10 hours of sun a day and temperatures around 27°C - perfect to enjoy crystal clear waters and long sandy beaches!

| Check temperatures before you book |
| |
| Do be warned, not all of Europe will enjoy autumnal sunshine and warm temperatures. Majorca for instance, is wetter than the UK in October! A simple internet search of countries and resorts will bring up the average temperature. Do make sure you check the temperatures, as, while no one can guarantee the weather anywhere, it's better to head off to somewhere renowned for good weather. |

| Kids' Clubs |
| |
| Most of the big tour operators are coming to the end of their summer season and offer kids' clubs and entertainment up until the end of October. However, if you are travelling with children and are dependent on kids' clubs, make sure you check that these will be available before you book. |

If you plan to escape the worst of the British weather this half term, have a good time - just don't forget to book your meet and greet parking in advance to secure the best possible deal and guarantee your space. |
