Do-it-yourself Luggage Labels

Ever found that you don't have nearly enough luggage labels, or you've made a mistake and need a new one?

Well, here's a fun way to make your own DIY luggage labels. Not only does it save a bit of money, but with the school holidays fast approaching, why not let the kids have a go at making their own funky labels?

Materials
You can make your own do-it-yourself luggage labels with a lot of materials you'll find lying around the house. Chances are you have just thrown away, or are about to throw away, an old cereal box - this stiff cardboard is ideal.

Other boxes you might have in your cupboard may well be made out of plastic, in fact yoghurt pots are good and are in nearly every fridge.

If you've got a piece of left over fabric then why not think about making it out of that. Not only can you decorate your luggage labels with paints and gems, but if you're a bit of a whizz with a needle and thread why not embroidery your name on? Very 'Cath Kidson', very 'on-trend'!

Decorations and Size
Luggage labels can be any shape or size with pretty much any design and decoration.

Think of those glittery flip-flops in your shoe cupboard, why not copy them? Love listening to music? Why not design yours like an iPod or MP3 player?

Jazz up your luggage labels with glitter, gems, beads and stickers. Even left over wrapping paper. It's all good fun and it stands out! Another great idea is to use an old beaded bracelet to attach the label to your case instead of rope, ribbon or a cable tie.

Flash but Different
If you want to be really flash, go to your local pet shop (even garden centre) and get your name and address or telephone number printed onto a dog tag. They come in some great colours, are hard wearing and look great.

Top Tip
Another top tip, just in case your luggage does go astray or gets separated from your luggage label – homemade or otherwise – is to include your contact details within your suitcase. Simply jot down your name, hotel and contact number on a piece of paper and pop it in your case!

After you've booked your holiday and made your own luggage labels, don't forget to book your Gatwick meet and greet parking.
